Collbaix Celler el Molí’s Singular d’Àmfora Blanc earned a score of 9.74 in the 2020 Catalonia Wine Guide, which was presented on 4 November at the traditional festival held at the World Trade Center in Barcelona.
A total of 114 wineries from the various Catalan wine regions took part in the event, offering tastings of the products that had scored more than 9.5 in the blind tastings carried out by the guide’s team this year.
The 2020 Catalonia Wine Guide has given excellent scores to several Collbaix Celler el Molí wines. In addition to the Singular d’Àmfora white, the highest-scoring wine from the DO Pla de Bages wine region, the Singular d’Àmfora red (9.71), the Singular white (9.39), the Zagal white (9.23) and Zagal red (9.22) all received scores over 9.
The Catalan Wine Guide Festival is a major event in the Catalan wine industry. Since it was launched, the Guide has emerged as an essential tool for evaluating Catalan wines. The Guide places special importance on the use of native varieties and alternative containers to barrels to age the wine, such as amphorae.
Josep Maria Claret, head of Collbaix Celler el Molí, said the winery is ‘proud to have earned these scores, especially those for the two Singular d’Àmfora wines. Being included in the Guide, with high scores, obviously lends us great prestige. We are very happy.’
